About Me: Failing Forward Runner

I’m Ronnie 👋

I’m not your typical runner. At 5’5” (with my Altra’s on) and over 230 lbs, I line up in races where most people don’t look like me. But that’s exactly why I’m here — to prove that running isn’t reserved for the fastest, leanest, or flashiest. Running belongs to all of us.

My journey hasn’t been a straight path.

  • I once trained for and finished an Ironman — one of the hardest endurance events in the world.
  • Then life hit: injuries, back problems, weight gain, poor eating, and a long stretch away from running.
  • I found myself broken, heavier, and wondering if my best days were behind me.

But here’s the thing: forward is forward. Even when I stumble, even when I shuffle, even when I feel like I’m failing — I keep moving.

This blog is where I share:

  • Training logs from a heavier runner’s perspective.
  • Gear reviews that actually consider what it’s like to run at 230+ lbs.
  • Fueling strategies that work for long miles without wrecking your stomach.
  • Honest reflections on setbacks, comebacks, and everything in between.

My mission is simple: to inspire back-of-the-pack and heavier runners to lace up, show up, and take pride in their miles. You don’t have to run fast. You don’t have to look a certain way. You just have to keep moving forward.

Thanks for being here. Whether you’re a fellow runner, someone just starting, or simply curious — I hope my story reminds you that the finish line doesn’t care how you got there, only that you did.
